Multiple streets in South Redondo Beach will be temporarily closed Sunday morning due to the 37th Annual Super Bowl 10K/5K race, and residents should expect traffic delays and parking restrictions during that time, according to a news release from the Redondo Beach Police Department.
The courses for the 5K and the 10K races cover Harbor Drive, Catalina Avenue, Herondo Street and the Esplanade, among other roads, according to a map released by RBPD. Though the route is the same as previous years’, this year’s course will be run in reverse due to the construction on Harbor Drive. (See below for course maps.)
“Traffic delays and parking concerns are expected in the areas west of Pacific Coast (Highway), and south of Herondo Street extending to the Riviera Village, between the hours of 6 a.m. and 11 a.m.,” according to RBPD spokesman Sgt. Shawn Freeman.
More than 8,000 people are expected to participate in the race.
